Visual Consulting:
Designing & Leading Change

Visual Consulting: Designing & Leading Change is an exciting integration of David Sibbet’s and my work. It integrates visual facilitation, dialogic practice, and change work applied to organizational, community, and multisector consulting. Our new framework Seven Challenges of Change, which serves as the backbone of the book, brings together the Liminal Pathways Change Framework with the process theory that underlies all of The Grove’s core models and tools.

The book offers a wide range of principles and practices to support change work, based on our nearly 70 years of shared field experience. In addition, the core framework has been collaboratively reviewed and fine-tuned with members of our Global Learning & Exchange Network, The GLEN.

This book is for any consultant and facilitator who is learning to design and facilitate transformational change through stakeholder involvement and working to make sense of complex challenges and supporting the leaders of change. It is also for visual practitioners who are ready to move into consulting.

Visual Consulting includes a wealth of practices related to contracting for work, gathering data, providing feedback, designing and implementing interventions, and supporting the change long-term. It demonstrates how visualization and design thinking plus effective group dialogue can be used to get more creative and productive results that are “owned” by everyone.

In this book you will…

  • Understand the predictable challenges of designing & leading change
  • Learn a suite of visually accessible models and frameworks for leading change
  • Learn to support all stages with powerful visual tools and dialogic practice
  • Learn about the importance of attending to BOTH the inner process dynamics and the outer support structures
  • Appreciate the archetypal patterns of change
  • See ideas integrated through detailed case studies
  • Meet a spectrum of successful visual consultants

The fourth installment in Wiley’s Visual Facilitation Series, Visual Consulting will teach you how to activate the full range of visual tools, methods, and models to support stepping into successful, contemporary consulting relationships.
